5 Easy Steps to Glowing Skin All Week: Sunday Skincare Checklist

Sunday skincare checklist for glowing skin all week? Yes, just 30 minutes of self-care time and you’re all set.

Prep: Sunday skincare checklist

  1. Set the Mood: Choose a time that works for you, free from distractions. Let your household know you’re indulging in some self-care (totally optional, but helpful if you have roommates or family!).
  2. Nighttime Glow: We recommend doing this routine before bed. This allows products to fully absorb while you sleep, leaving you ready to glow in the morning.
  3. Personalize Your Self-Care Sunday: This isn’t a one-size-fits-all routine! Depending on your needs and the week you’ve had, you can choose which body part to focus on each Sunday. Think of it like a pampering buffet – pick and choose what your skin craves!

1. Gather All Your Sunday Skincare Checklist Essentials

Prepare all the pampering tools you’ll need for your personalized routine. Lay out your favorite cleansers, toners, essences, moisturizers, and any sheet masks or treatments you plan to use. Having everything within reach will streamline your self-care session and maximize relaxation.

2. Sunday Hands and Feet Care

Feet:

  1. Soak and Scrub: Begin by soaking your feet in a basin of warm water mixed with Epsom salts or your favorite foot soak. After about 5-10 minutes, use a foot scrub or pumice stone to gently exfoliate away rough skin and calluses, paying extra attention to the heels and balls of your feet.
  2. Hydrate and Heal: After drying your feet thoroughly, apply a thick layer of foot cream or butter, focusing on dry and cracked areas. For an extra nourishing treatment, consider using a foot mask or wrap your feet in plastic wrap after applying the cream to lock in moisture and promote healing overnight.
  3. Relax and Rejuvenate: Finish off your foot pampering session by massaging your feet with your favorite massage oil or lotion, paying attention to pressure points and sore spots. Slip on a pair of cozy socks to keep your feet warm and allow the moisturizer to penetrate deeply while you relax and unwind.

Hands:

  1. Soak and Exfoliate: Start by soaking your hands in warm water with a splash of gentle liquid soap. After a few minutes, exfoliate your hands using a DIY scrub made with sugar or oatmeal and olive oil, gently massaging in circular motions to remove dead skin cells.
  2. Moisturize and Massage: Pat your hands dry and apply a generous amount of hand cream or lotion, focusing on areas prone to dryness like the knuckles and cuticles. Take a few minutes to massage the moisturizer into your hands, promoting better absorption and relaxation.
  3. Hand Mask Treatment with Gloves: Apply a thick layer of a hydrating hand mask to your hands, covering them entirely. Slip on a pair of cotton or moisturizing gloves to seal in the moisture. Leave the mask on for about 5-minutes. Afterward, remove the gloves and rinse off the mask with warm water, then pat dry for beautifully soft and moisturized hands.

3. Sunday Bath and Body Routine

OPTION 1

NOTE: the best time for dry brushing depends on your individual skin type and preferences.

***It’s generally recommended to do dry brushing before showering for a few reasons:

  • ExfoliationDry brushing helps remove dead skin cells through friction. Start brushing at your feet and work your way upward, using long, sweeping motions. Always brush towards your heart to follow the natural flow of lymphatic drainage. Use light pressure while brushing to avoid irritating your skin. You can adjust the pressure based on your comfort level. Use circular motions on your joints and areas where the skin is thicker, like the knees and elbows.
  • Cleansing: After dry brushing, you can either shower or apply a nourishing moisturizer or body oil to hydrate your skin and lock in moisture.
  • Clean Your Brush: To keep your dry brush clean and free from bacteria, wash it regularly with mild soap and water. Allow it to air dry completely before using it again.

***However, there are a few things to consider:

OPTION 2

  • Body Scrub: Gently exfoliate your entire body with a sugar or salt scrub to remove dead skin cells. Pay extra attention to areas prone to dryness like elbows and knees.
  • Bath Soak: Draw a warm bath with Epsom salts or essential oils like lavender for relaxation and muscle soreness relief. Soak for 15-20 minutes.
  • Moisturize: Apply a rich body lotion while your skin is still slightly damp to lock in moisture.

4. Glowing Skin Ritual Sunday

  1. Cleanse: Start with a gentle cleanser to remove makeup, dirt, and oil buildup.
  2. Steam: Steam your face for 3 to 5-minutes over a bowl of hot water with a towel draped over your head to open pores (be cautious if you have sensitive skin). Pat your face dry with a clean towel, leaving it slightly damp.
  3. Apply Oil/Serum: You can apply a facial oil or serum for a smoother gua sha glide.
  4. Gua Sha Massage: Apply a few drops of facial oil and gently use a Gua sha tool to massage your face, working outwards from your nose and forehead. Include your earlobes, neck, and upper chest for a lymphatic drainage boost.  Gua sha is safe for most skin types. However, avoid using it on broken skin, rosacea, or active acne.
  5. Face Mask: Apply a mask suited to your skin’s needs. Hydrating masks for dry skin, clay masks for oily skin, or brightening masks for dull skin. Relax for the recommended time for the face mask (usually 10-20 minutes). Follow up with moisturizer or rinse first, pat dry and then moisturizer.
  6. Eye Mask & Lip Mask: While the face mask is working its magic, target delicate areas with specific eye and lip masks.
  • NOTE: If you’re using a face mask not formulated for the eyes, avoid applying it too close to the eye area.
  • You can use leftover serum from your face mask and gently pat it around your eyes for a quick under-eye boost.
